In his role as Manager of Artistic Programming at OZ Arts Nashville, Daniel has supported hundreds of visiting artists from around the world, including New York, Brazil, Chile, Germany, and more. He also works closely with Nashville artists as they develop new works in the organization's unique 10,000 square-foot warehouse. As the Producing Artistic Director of Kindling Arts, Daniel has worked with hundreds of Nashville-based artists to launch 50+ unique artistic experiences since the organization was founded in 2018. Through Kindling Arts, Daniel co-conceived and co-directed The Naughty Tree, a queering of the Garden of Eden creation story, which The Nashville Scene called "freewheeling, uncensored and full of heart, pushing the boundaries of what we imagine performance art to be." Daniel's other local producing credits include two installments of Heroic Couplets: Poetry into Film Collaborations with Defy Film Festival and HAUNTED (First Night's Theatrical Event of the Year), a multimedia, immersive experience inspired by the deadliest train crash in American history. For six years, she worked professionally in musical theatre as a triple threat traveling up and down the east coast, Tennessee & Kentucky. Once she left the road life, Christi joined the administrative staff of the Tennessee Performing Arts Center (TPAC). In her years with TPAC she had many roles including managing the box office, subscription office, group sales, oversight of relationships with Ticketmaster & three Resident Companies, and institutional customer service. The last ten years with TPAC Christi oversaw the programming and event/rental negotiations for TPAC’s four venues. She was part of the executive leadership team and co-produced six different shows including Nashville House Concerts, a monthly music series at War Memorial focused on all the sounds that make Nashville unlike any other town. With the assistance of a programming & sales team, Christi helped secure top-named acts and smaller performing arts debuts, while building wider awareness of TPAC’s historic music hall War Memorial Auditorium, the venues TPAC, and the outstanding in-house services available to its partners. She was also able to grow activity by over 40% in a 5-year period hosting host over 500 events and long-run engagements in a year. Christi took a few years away from Nashville to be part of the reopening of the legendary theater Westport County Playhouse in Connecticut. With then artistic director Joanne Woodward and board members such as Christopher Plummer, Gene Wilder and Paul Newman the Playhouse opened with their first ever year-round season. While with the Playhouse she served as the Patron Services Manager overseeing ticketing, customer service, & client services. She managed the installation & data transition to a new ticketing software, developed new co-promotion relationships with community arts partners, secured rental event business, all while working closely with marketing & development to increase audience base and sponsorship opportunities. Christi is grateful for the opportunities she has enjoyed in the arts & entertainment world, both onstage and backstage. As the performing arts sector is at a critical juncture, APAP’s placement within and service to the field is essential. The purpose of APAP's Sustainability Planning Process is to conduct a rigorous assessment of the changing needs of the presenting, booking, and touring field and the impacts of the global, economic, and societal shifts in which we are operating. The information we gather will shape APAP's strategic priorities and action steps for the next three to five years in support of the livelihoods of performing arts professionals and our collective vision for a more equitable, inclusive, and sustainable future. APAP Community Survey: The purpose of the survey is to understand who you are, how APAP can best serve you, and what you envision for the future of the field and APAP's role in it. As an incentive, when you submit your survey, you will have the opportunity to be entered in a drawing for a registration to the APAP|NYC 2025 conference. Take the APAP Community Survey by Friday, March 8, 2024. APAP Focus Groups: As part of the Sustainability Planning Process, we will host 90-minute Focus Groups the week of March 25th. These groups will meet online via Zoom with our consultants to provide insights on needs, experiences and desires for the future. Focus group participants will be selected to ensure representation of the greatest cross-section of APAP membership and the field. Participation is voluntary and may not include everyone who indicates interest. To nominate yourself for a Focus Group, complete the Focus Group Interest Form by Tuesday, February 20, 2024. The purpose of the Sustainability Planning Process is to work together to envision the future of the field and APAP’s role within it. A. Michelson Philanthropy to continue this work in our state. TADI is designed to build capacity and leadership potential while encouraging applications from the identified counties to existing Commission grant categories or programs. Last week, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee and the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) announced their list of counties identified as distressed and at-risk in fiscal year 2024. Notably, the number of distressed counties in the state has reduced to eight, the fewest in Tennessee history. The Tennessee Arts Commission’s TADI grant complements this administration-wide mission to expand opportunity for Tennesseans in rural areas by supporting arts projects in underserved, rural communities.
